My Fave Lipstick

16 Nov

Okay. Since I am just starting this beauty blog, let it be known that I have paler than pale skin. It is not porcelain, nor is it creamy. It’s ghostly pale, you can see veins underneath. Needless to say, I look like an unglamourous vampire. Dull and scary.

Yeah.

My least favorite makeup are lip thingies. Gloss, balms, lipsticks… with our weather I find it the most annoying thing. But sometimes I have no choice but to put some color on my puckers lest I look dead. Which brings me to…
This was back in 2008, when I first fell in love with it.

My All-Time Favorite Lipstick

I discovered this while browsing through ABS-CBN Talent Center catalogue years ago when my eyes happened to land on Kristine Hermosa’s makeup, particularly her lips. It was the catalogue where the ladies sported the no-makeup look and one of my favorite local makeup artists, Chechel Joson, did their faces. It said there she used Max Factor Pink Brandy (no.825). So I grabbed myself one (I believe on the same day I saw the catalogue) and it had never failed me since. Ever!

Color: It is easy to conclude that my favorite color is pink. But I am very particular with my pinks. I don’t like it leaning on the blue side. I like them warm and yellow-toned and subdued. What I mean is that it is on the coral side of pinks. And this lipstick is my kind of pink. It looks like it is on the brown kind of warm on the packaging but on me, it is lighter and peachier. Not too warm to look like lipstick, but pink and warm enough to look natural.

Texture: This lipstick glides on heavenly! It is so creamy! It sits well on top, it has a semi-matte finish. This lipstick has the perfect creaminess to easily switch it to cream blush which I do sometimes and it’s peachy perfect.

Pay-Off: Like I said, I don’t like it when I can feel substance sitting on my lips. With this, I can get away with putting color on my lips even when I just dab it on. In fact, that is just how I use it that’s why it had lasted long. It’s not my natural lip color but it does look natural on me.

Cost: Max Factor is not a high-end brand. I checked the stores, it is now only for P575! It lasts on your lips for about 8 hours, so that’s a steal!

Do I recommend¬† this to everyone? I don’t have any other Max Factor lippies, but I guess you can try other shades for its quality. But if you are conscious about brands who do tests on animals, then Max Factor is not for you. This particular lipstick I highly recommend on women with pale/fair skin. It will instantly give you a fresh peachy natural look. But hey, who said our dear morenas can’t wear it? In makeup it’s not about the rules, it is all about having fun!
